Tickets for the readings are sold at SGD30. For my senior directorial in theatre here at the college I directed the play Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde by Moises Kaufman. The sparkling example of this method was the play, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, a fast-moving examination of the great playwright's downfall because he was charged with being gay, a crime at the time. Oscar Wilde had no intention of becoming the icon for the gay movement, but that is how history has painted him. Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. The “gross indecency” in the title refers to sodomy charges in 1895 against esteemed playwright, novelist, and essayist Oscar Wilde, the married father of two children. GITTTOW was first produced by the Techtonic Theatre Project, the group responsible for the Laramie Project. The difference is that the subjects back then had a much more substantial and lasting influence on art and culture. Playwright and director Moisés Kaufman is probably best known for his work on The Laramie Project, about the tragic murder of Matthew Shepard. In three short months, Oscar Wilde, the most celebrated playwright and wit of Victorian England, was toppled from the apex of British society into humiliation and ruin. Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company presents Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde by Moises Kaufman. I much more enjoyed Moises Kaufman's 1997 play Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, which I reviewed for my 'zine The Herald of Freedom. Following two nights of auditions, the cast list has been announced for “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde,” directed by Jason Alberty. Senior directorials are basically capstone projects for theatre students. Who knew that tabloid sensationalism had roots dating back to 1895? Running concurrently with the play will be staged readings of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde on 21 and 28 April 2013, 7:30 pm at the Drama Centre Theatre. UK's Department of Theatre will present performances of “Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde” this weekend and next at Guignol Theatre. Because Kaufman was smart enough to get out of the way. I admired the clarity of his Laramie Project and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde but, though his 33 Variations are entertaining, I left wondering whether there was any fresh meat in the pastiche.
